Quigley's Castle Paint Out

This week the Eureka Springs Plein Air group gathered at Quigley's Castle for their weekly paint out. Quigley's has an interesting history as do many of the places in and around Eureka Springs. Built around 1943after Elsie Fiovanti Quigley with the aide of her children tore down the structure they were living in one day while her husband was at work. The "Castle" is a two story structure with four feet of earth left bare between the edges of the living space and the walls. In this soil Mrs. Quigley planted flowering tropical plants that are now up to the second story ceiling.

The outside of the house is covered with stones, fossills, crystals, arrowheads and stones collected from the nearby creek beds. This unusual home is listed on the National Registry of Historic places and is a must see in our area.

Saturday we will be back at the Fayetteville Farmers' Market on the square in Fayetteville Arkansas. If you are in the area and are looking for a local experience, drop on by and take in the variety and beauty of our local market.
